setting timing on 913 pump. Need to know mm of lift.

I am going to be installing my injection pump and want to set the timing on it. How many mm of travel does my #1 plunger need to be to be set for about 18 degrees of timing. Thanks.

John,

Should be as simple as transposing off the chart:

http://www.pdrdiesel.com/oldsite/TechPTiming.htm

So if the lift @ 16 degrees is 5.6 mm, then lift @ 18 degrees should be 6.3mm

Someone, please correct me if Im wrong.

on the 215 pump, 18* of timing would be at 5.91mm of lift. I have a chart that was printed off this site but i'm not sure from where.

Hmmmm. Doc, from what I can see, every .1 of a mm seems to be .5 of a degree. I have a 180 hp auto motor, but I have since bought a 913 pump. On another forum I got a reply of 6mm, and the 2 different ones here. Wonder what one to use......

The chart I have also says 5.91mm for 18 degrees. I wouldn't sweat a half degree either way, I'd just keep adjusting until you find something you like.

I have not seen that chart - just the old one from PDR.

Swamp, you running studs? I can't remember? Please be gentle on the headgasket, you big big boost pretty fast. I remember seeing 50psi pretty fast, on a VP truck. A pump like you have you'll have tons of fuel. Twins are different, than a single

I don't think the lift is linear after you get past 15°. A quick call to Piers at BD would get you fixed up.

I called Harry at Peak and looking at the chart and also what others have said here I am going to try the 5.91mm setting. And like Tate says, if I don't like the way it performs I will adjust it accordingly. Looks like I should have just posted my question in the abdtr......

I have a renewed enthusiasm for the build up. The worst part about it is it being at a buddies house and then finding time in both of our lives to get some free time to giterdone. Once it is bolted up I have a brother-in law that owes me bigtime. I have helped him move 2x in the last year.... and he has a gun safe that is over 600lbs. Also he is a army and heavy duty mechanic so once it makes it out of my buddies shop it should only be a day or 2 until its running.....

I can't wait to see how it turns out for ya. It was a pretty nice truck the last time that I saw it on that dark cold winter day. You came a long ways buddy, sometimes other things take us away from our projects. Just keep at her.
