I'm thinking out loud here. Instead of trying to hash out which transmission is better, wouldn't it be nice to lay out the facts of how each transmission gets the job done and let the end user make up his own mind which is the best for him.

Something like....

A DTT transmission works with higher pressures for more clamping force. This requires the transmission builder to replace/upgrade certain parts of the transmission to keep internal leaks to a minimum. Valvebody modifications play a part in pressure increases. DTT also uses a T/C with tighter fluid coupling, what this does is keeps the transmission speed closer to actual engine spend which in turn reduces stress to the lock up clutch when lock up is engaged.

The above is just an example.

A better mouse trap, right there!

Good idea there Mike. I have learned that DTT uses a single because they run higher pressures in their transmissions, just as you have said. Now Dave offers a single and a tripe disc, his single may be similar to DTT's, but his transmissions don't run the pressures that DTT does. DTT relies on a single with high pressure for ultimate holding power whereas Dave uses a triple and lower pressures to hold the power. The way it was explained to me is the lower pressures combined with tuning make the shifts less harsh.

Bottom line is: Call each of the vendors and listen to what each has to say, and be honest with your HP goals and how you drive the truck. Use the vendor's information to make your decision. We can only offer our personal experience on here in the end it is your $$$.

Dave G's customer support, knowledge, & follow up are better than any other company, I have found to date. With all the prices in a small range for the same level of equipment, that is what made the difference for me. I quickly thrashed two TCs from other companies before I discovered Goerend Bros.

There is only one company that I have both personally and via friends heard enough horror stories to recommend the proverbial don't touch them with a "ten foot pole" approach, and that is the makers of the “Mojave Green” TC. PM me if you want details.
