ScottyII Noise
Got my scotty II installed with the hole cut. I like how the turbo sounds, but is there a way to reduce the hissing noise? Sounds like a shop vac in the glove compartment. I'm going to get the tail light grommet from napa tomorrow. Will that do any good besides making the hole look neater?

If you really can't handle the extra noise from the SA II, install a TAG (Turbo Air Guide). It smoothens and straightens the airflow into the compressor wheel inlet and a by-product of this is greatly reduced turbo noise.

I have the tail light grommet installed with my SA II, also.....it is a grommet for a standard 4" round tail signal light....many manfacturers make them.....I picked one up at a truck stop. Just go to NAPA and tell them you need a mounting grommet for a standard 4" tail light.

The noise is OK, just not quite what I was expecting. I'd like to hear the turbo whine, I love it. The hissing just overpowers it, didn't know if I could seal the hole off better, or if it wasn't drawing air quite right. I'm happy with it though, just wondering if you can tune the noise/hissing any. I spooled it up hard when I passed my buddy's house yesterday, he was out in the yard by his stock 01 2500 ctd. Saw him staring.

Also, where do you source the TAG. I fabricated a plate to close the cowl if I wanted to quieten the sound, but if the TAG makes the whine milder, I may not need to use the plate. Also, what does the TAG cost what other benefits does it offer.
Thanks, Matt

Did a search and looks like the TAG is $99. Given, the turbo whine doesn't bother me on daily driving, I'll probably pass. Given I've got a cheap plate fabricated to close the cowl and quieten it for long tows, I think I'll be fine that way.
