Scotty II vs. Mega Cannon / on HeberRam
I wish this was a paid advertisement, but its not..After a terrible week of changing injectors, fuel filter, Map sensor, and turbos, my problem with low power and performance was a dying VP-44 injection pump. Changed back to a stock VP-44 pump and all is fine. :'( :'( Now in my de-tuned mode, Piers HX-50 15cm hybrid, Don M's 120hp injectors, Edge race comp., It was time to test the Scotty II VS. the AFE Mega Cannon w/ hole in cowl and custom ram air hood. After making four passes each ( 8 total) up a 7% grade from 5700'-7200' approx. 7miles, at 75 mph, 82* outside temp., both systems EGT's registered 1200*. At 85 mph, both systems were 1400*. Now what was amazing, between 40-60mph the Scotty II was 100-150*cooler then the Mega Cannon, depending on what gear you were in. At idle I was 50-75* cooler and took 1/2 the time to cool down as before with the Mega Cannon. This proves to me at least the Scotty II out performed the AFE Mega Cannon at lower speeds, and equaled it at high speeds ( even with the Ram Air hood system). I now plan to modifiy the Scotty II, by installing a 3" ram air intake hose into it from the bottom, through my Air Bull-dog front air dam. I am optimistic, this will provide increased air flow to the Scotty II at higher speeds and futher reduce EGT's and help spool-up.. This maybe the ultimate system. ( the rational is, I feel the Ram air system helped the AFE Mega Cannon at the higher speeds) It will look simular to the set-up I saw in Idaho:

http://www.dodge-diesel.org/yabbse/g...5&pid=1992

Scotty II has made a believer out of me, and now if I can just improve on it?????

Steve

Steve:
I added a 4" tube from the front valance to the Scotty II air box. I haven't been able to see any lower EGT's but it can't hurt.
Bruce
If we can get the bald little rascal to stick around home for more than a couple days at a shot, he'll be starting on the Genesis air induction system. The initial release will be for the 2003 Dodges, but if the concept proves out, we may extend it to the 2nd Gen trucks as well.

Rod

Thanks a bunch for posting this information, Steve. This is the sort test I've been looking to see, and who knows maybe I'll even buy a Scotty because of what you're reported.
