SBC Problems
I just got my SBC 3600 6CB DD clutch intsalled and when i tryed to turn the motor over with a baring tool it wouldn't turn over. So i tore it back down and loosened the flywheel and it turns over real easy. I don't want to go grinding away on the flywheel housing on the back of the motor just yet.Has anyone heard of this befor? I NEED this truck back together ASAP it is my daily driver.

When you get a minute call me at my home, we should be able to figure out the problem together. If I am not there just leave a message and I will call you back ASAP.

The starter needs to be shimmed back about a 3/8th to get the starter gear and starter housing out of the flywheel. Is the Starter gear supposed to be in the teeth on the flywheel?

Sounds like the starter does need to be moved back a bit!

Yes I talked to peter. Turns out there is supposed to be a spacer for the starter with the clutch that evidently got left out. He is going to take care of me though. Customer service like that is hard to find these days. I'll up date when I get every thing in and get the truck running.
I got the 6 speed in there today finally... good lord that thing is a wrestling match to get in there! I hope all this work for that extra gear is worth it!

You'll love the 6 speed...glad Peter got it figured out! He's always been more than helpful to me, as has everyone else @ SBC! I use them for all my clutching needs
Ditto on wrestling that 6 speed...I have to pull mine again, needs a new pilot bearing! At least that's all I hope it is

Did you ask Peter why some (my 02 you left the spacer alone) and some (my buddys' 01.5) you hand to take out the spacer. and then theres yours that you have to add a spacer? What year are you putting yours in? BTW they put the dd in the pull only trucks that dont get drove at all . they put the clutch in and haul it to the pull and lay in to it. Peter told me if you drive it to the pull it's broke in
