SBC DD 500 Mile Update...

Well I got the South Bend Dual Disk in last week, this thing is sweet! I have the 3600/12 CB. I really dont know what people are talking about when they say they are hard to drive, this one feels great. You can tell it is more grabby than the stocker when taking off in 2nd, as it should be! I put in the upgraded hydraulics as well. I can barely tell a difference in pedal pressure, although the friction point is higher up in the pedal which takes some getting used too. As for noise, its not bad at all, a little chatter in nuetral and some at about 1500-1600 RPM when taking off. I'm guessing it might get louder as it gets broken in.

I tried a boosted launch today, nothing heavy, I'm scared I'll mess something up! But I boosted it up to 8-10 lbs and dropped it and it just sat there and spun the duals. Might have something to do with my worn out tires though? Any ideas on doing a good launch?

Anyways, for anyone thinking about one of these clutches, I would recomend it!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your clutch. I'm about 500 miles ahead of you and am totally impressed by it. For me and my 5 speed, I run the tach up to about 2400-2600 rpm and put it in 3rd. It's spooling my turbo to about 4 lbs and when I let out on the clutch the tall gear is more than enough to get it spooled quickly. 4 Wheel Drive High of course. Just watch the tach and let out slow enough to not let the rpms dip and fast enough to not let it slip for too long. It's quite the rush.

The noise you're hearing @ 1500-1600 rpms is your tranny. A fluiddamper should help quieten things down.

My experience with boosted launches are the same as yours- wheelspin for 60+ feet. I'm trying to figure out a way to launch without spinning and the best I've come up with is rev to 1800+ then start letting the clutch out as you're adding throttle. I'm thinking with the higher rpms you have to let it out slower and slip it longer.
