I should be getting the truck back, with a SB DD clutch on it!!! I haven't seen any recommended break in information. I got the 3250 version. I need to know if I have to do anything special before having a little fun

Give it about 500-1000 miles.

 

Drive it home, use the clutch alot. Then when you get home, give it a few 50psi launches as if you were pulling a sled, good to go.

Posts from the past have said that peter recommends doing at least 500 miles of city driving before giving it alot of power. I mean you just just dropped a ton of cash on that clutch.

 

Not joking, I put 500 miles on my clutch before beating it & it still wasn't seated in right till I heated it up & then it was a different animal. My bro got the DD3600 in & drove it home, gave it a few launches & his was seated.

 

50psi? really? you basically launched at full power on your new clutch. I could see a couple of 10psi launches but 50psi usually does a clutch in very quickly. I don't think pullers launch with that much on the Iron Giant.

 

Well, maybe do a quick 30psi launch first, then hammer it for the next one. You don't think that pullers launch with 50psi? They do if they want to win. My pedal is pushed through the floor from the moment I see the green flag & doesn't come off until I see the red one.

 

No wonder pullers go thru clutches every season. LOL i am glad I have a 2wd, much less temptation there.

 

Peter at SBC strongly recommends AGAINST beating the crud out of the new clutch like that... Use the clutch a lot go get you some stop and go traffic time... Let it seat for 500-1000miles driving fairly easy...

 

Peter told me to put 1000 miles of stop and go(or city driving) on any of his clutch's prior to laying the hammer down or towing...

 

See I knew i wasn't imaging that.

 

I heard the stop and go thing for 500 miles to seat it in too. But like someone mentioned above, it wasn't until I hooked to a sled the first time, brought it to redline, and eased the clutch out that it "officially" got seated in

But I did get the 3850 Feramic button clutch too. The feramic needs to slip alittle here and there.

I absolutely love this clutch, no problems on the street either...

And the 50 psi mentioned above is alittle low
