s.o. pump vs hot rod pump

Well I might be needing a vp again. I really hate saying again cause i've said it about 3 times. I've burned 2 ho pumps up and was gonna get a hot rod but some fellas on this site talked me into a so pump instead. Yes the so was better than the ho. But my friend let me borrow his hot rod pump and it makes my so look like a piece of junk. So is gutless on the bottom even with my adrenaline on the beta tunes and smarty turned up. Ya it runs good on the top but so does this hot rod pump. Plus pulls way harder on the bottom. I have 6 or more friends with hot rods and have never had a single problem with them. So I wanna know who has the best hot rod pump

Stick with the SO. The hot rod pumps--all of them-- have spotty reliability records.

The use of the HO cam ring with the SO plungers to make a hot rod pump can increase the rate at which pressure rises, which supports bigger injectors better with better atomization (this is the bottom end pull you are feeling). But the geometry is very hard on the interfaces. The extra half millimeter of plunger bore puts more load on the cam ring. It is similar to the way overboring on engine increase compression and peak cylinder pressure.

This accelerates wear on the pump head and reduces mechanical reliability.

Electrically, it shouldn't matter as the FPCM is the same in all cases (assuming you get the "FedEx" top end)

SO pump (027), wow seems like you have had some issues with injection pumps. I'm running an used VP off a 01 roll over truck that had 200000miles on it. Its an original non/rebuild VP. I've put on about the same mileage since I've installed it. I've never had a VP that failed completely on my truck, but had one that had electrical gliche from time to time. I'm the original owner.

I usually have people giving me bad VP's, that I install that always seem to work in my truck

Ya I'm aware of the so pump being better but i've lost 2 of them. My friends with hot rod pumps have had them on before I lost my first ho pump and they all still have those same pumps while I've lost 4. It ain't a fuel press issue cause of my air dog and I realize I have the adrenaline on it but my friends are running tst powemax comp and an edge drag comp. Hell 2 of them are running 200 horse injectors and the other is 150s. I'm just tired of junk

All of my pumps have been wire tapped since day one. I currently hammering 50psi of fuel pressure at my VP. I can tell the difference just by driving how much fuel pressure I'm running.

I've run both the edge comp box and drag box. My current injectors are DDP 300HP sticks (SAC nozzles) 8 holers something. Hazey hazey sticks, but sure wake up the truck when my foot is on the floor. I've also run a ton of sticks, must have run around 30-40 sets of injectors.
