RV275 injector install help

I'm going to be installing RV275's this weekend. I have the instructions from dodgeram.org & Diesel Dynamics. Any other helpful hints?

Thanks,
Mark

Pretty straight forward job.
Keep things clean, don't bend the injector line.

If you have a digital camera, take a picture of the injector lines/brackets before you take them apart. It is nice to have the picture for re-assembly.

Ok. Thanks for the help. The weatherman says it's supposed to be nice tomorrow so I'll give it a shot.

started at the back and work your way forward. If you can get #6 done then its a piece of cake

Good info, but I'd do the test run on #1 since it's accessable, then do the pita #6 and come forward. I left the engine hoisting loop off mine when I did my injection pump so that was one less thing I had to work around.

Well, I got it done today. Took about 3 1/2 hours. Took my time and everything went very well with no problems. The back two injectors were harder to get out and put back in but just took longer. Bumped the starter 3 times and then it finally fired up. Took it for a spin and I can feel more power at WOT runs. The old injectors looked pretty sad at 82,000 miles. The tips were completely black with crusted black stuff around the spray holes. Not sure if this crud made a difference in performance and mileage.

Mark, I'm thinking about RV275 injectors too. I notice you are pretty much stock, like I am. Cost versus performance, was it worth it?

piperca,
I've got a big smile on my face right now after my short 3 mile test drive. I just put bigger tires on about a month ago and I could tell I lost some power. These 275's took care of that. I've been wanting some 275's for a while and have been putting it off but the new tires pushed me over the edge to get the 275's. I was a little worried about my stock tranny but after the test drive, all is good. It handled it just fine. I'd really like to get an Edge or Van Aaken box but I know my tranny would not like that. In time I'll have a built tranny and a box. Back to your question...yes, I think $295 was well worth it. Can't wait to get up in the morning and test it out on my way to work!

What kind of boost numbers are you seeing? Did you need to add a boost fooler?

Ya know...I didn't even look. I'll check it out tomorrow. With the stock injectors, I can't get it over about 17 1/2 to 18. No boost fooler. I thought about adding one but figured if I got an Edge box, I wouldn't need one since it comes built in. It's going to be awile before I get the fueling box since my tranny is stock. I would tear the *#%& out of it. Maybe I should add the boost fooler? Anybody know if it would help?

With just a new valve body in my tranny I am holding a comp with the wire tapped and 275's. Just something to think about.

I can hit 19 psi at WOT, pulling a grade, empty. I thought that was bad! I think she'll set an overboost code at 21-22 psi, so I've been told. I thought the RV275's alone would peg that ... no?

BigBlue,
Now you've got me thinking about that EZ. I can slip the tranny by nailing the throttle at low rpm's so I better not attempt more power until the tranny upgrade. I know I'm going to want more soon though. I've been on DTR for a couple years listening to everyone putting on fueling boxes and injectors...I just can't take in anymore!! Anybody have an extra $3,000-$4,000 laying around that they don't need?
