running two EGT senders to 1 gauge

Anyone running a pre and post sending unit to the same gauge? I'm curious as to how / what materials? I know I'll need a switch, the sending unit & some wire....maybe some elbowgrease. I'm not sure what the requirements for the switch are.

I was considering the same setup, but not sure how far off the gauge would be with the added wire/etc.

Diagram in my pics.

I did it with mine, all you need is a switch that is DPDT 2 position switch, It will have 6 prongs on the back. you wire one sending unit to the two prongs on the top and the other one to the two bottom prongs, then the middle two prongs go to the gauge.

LANCED: Did you notice any difference in readings with the switch installed? I'm thinking the added resistance of the switch, etc would throw off the gauge, not sure how much.

Not the big question, how much of a difference in temps do you see pre & post turbo?

Thanks!

When I did this the temps were pretty much the same until I stood on it and then they would vary as much as 500*. Even when cooling down the temps were pretty close. Within 50* of each other.

As long as you get a "decent" switch the resistance should be minimal through-out the life of the switch . Don't go to Wal-Mart and buy a $1 switch and expect it not give you trouble...

Isn't the length of the wire from the probe to the gauge critical in reading accurate voltage (temps)?

Probes are gauge specific. What Make & model?

Switching Thermocouple Wires

I'm not so sure that you can just install a switch in between a thermocouple probe and a gauge. Thermocouples rely on a voltage differential created by to dis-similar metal conductors. I'm not sure how a set of tin plated copper (I'm assuming) contacts and solder joints or spade lugs in the middle of the conductors will affect them. Apparently it works, but I'm thinking it won't be near as accurate. Has anyone taken side by side readings with two gauges with one on a switch and compared readings? Just curious.

I can find the sender - where do you find a good switch?

I just purchased another isspro set up (R607T), decided not to run the switch. Have to buy a three gauge pod now The wife will be happy about that.

Thanks Gene

I've been thinking about this for sometime now. I installed my thermo post turbo because I didn't know any better. Now, I'd just like to add another thermo on the manifold but I like having the post turbo thermo for shutdown temps. I found these switches but haven't talked to anyone about them yet.
