Is this the right Carter Pump?
#16
I've been using that pump.. mounted back by the tank.. it holds the pressure better mounted back at the tank.. Since I'm just running the one pump, I had the connector left over from a FASS that wasn't used.. so I just make an long harness... I also had the quick dissconnect from the FASS.. So I'm running 3/8 out of the tank to the Carter.. (Mounted on the outside of the frame) then back to the stock steel line.. (No cutting of the steel line..) Then up front.. just run from the steel line to the filter housing...
I need to put a filter before the Carter.. (one of these days.) but filtered the same as the stock pump...
As someone posted above... they are like the stock lift pumps.. sometimes they only last a few days.. then the next will last for a few yrs... My first last 1 week...

I mounted it in the stock location. I tore the old hard line part off, and cut it so that I can run a regualr fuel line on it. I used some hose clamps, and clamped it down. Works like a charm. Mind you I was stuck in Truckee at my summer home where I had NO tools except for the tool bag I carry with me.

Look at post #5:
carter p4601hp? That's the same one I got at napa, but it looks like the cost is 1/2 at summit. Wish I had found this thread when I was searching So far mines holding 12 at wot with plenty of extra fuel in the mix. Your's being a 98.5 I beleive you need a pigtail:

Like what was previuosly stated, if you're going to use the pump as a pusher, to help out the stocker, then use the HP4600. The HP4601 has too much pressure in a stacked dual pump application.
The slickest way to wire it in, is use a lift pump harness extension, avialable from Cummis for under $10, and tap into that for the pump power relay trigger. Pull the relay/pump power from a keyed, fused source.
