Resonator question

I going to put stacks on. Step-son's is loud in the cab. I figured annoying on a long trip. I've been told to put a resonator on, and it quiets the cab down, but still sounds great and roars on the outside. Anyone have expirence with this. Also stock or some aftermarket type?

Hey looks like you made it home. I have a stack on my 91' its not loud cruising but acclerating is where its loud, basically conversation would stop in that truck until I got up to speed. Any good Muffler will quiet it down to make it more managable. Look for a Donaldson or one like that.

Thanks, It was good meeting you. I'm wondering about how much room there is under there to fit a muffler. Oh, and would a resonator rob any power?

A Resonator will help with reducing the noise in the cab. I put one on my 3rd gen and it made a big difference in the cab, but still maintains the rumble outside. The resonator I used is a straight thru design off a megacab. It didnt rob any power, in fact, I think it added alittle more low end torque vs the straight pipe. A resonator is also about half the size of a muffler and may fit in there easier. I tried a sliverline muffler and it made the exhaust too quiet for my liking. My 2 cents.

I believe any power difference with or w/o resonator is negligible.

I guess I mispoke, it probably didnt add any power but turbo spool up is quicker. I'm pretty sure of that. I had the same happen when I tried a sliverline muff. Sorry.
