Question Replacement Tires

Just about time to get some new tires for the dually. I'm just keeping the same stock size tire (LT235 85R16). Looking for brands that you have experience with that would be a good replacement. I don't do any muddin' or anything like that. I might drive down a dirt road every now and then... So I'm mostly on the road driving empty or towing a trailer. Any input is appreciated!

Thanks,

Tony

If you want my .02 I don't think you can go wrong with Michellin for the best riding and wearing highway tire. I have owned many sets on a couple different vehicles in load range E and I have been very impressed with their highway performance. I am currently running a set of LTX A/S tires (265/75) but have also had a set of LTX A/T's (235/85) on a dually which are slightly more aggressive but have awesome road manners none the less. The factory LTX M/S are probaly the best wearing tire but they just don't meet my needs when the snow and slush hit the roads. I think the LTX A/S is the best compromise between the A/T and the M/S.

Agree with CTD NUT on the Michelin's! Are you sure your 02 came with 235's, I thought all 02's came with 245's with 265's optional or as part of Towing Package.

I have had 265 and 285 LXT M&S's; loved them. Long tread life, very quiet on the road yet have aggressive enough tread for me in mud, snow or off road (w/ 4x4). Don't know the A/S.

3500 dually's have different tires than 2500's.
Tall skinny tires.

Actually a 235/85-16 is about the same height as a 265/75-16, less than 1/8 inch difference, just skinnier by just over an inch.

I'm running Cooper range E (Hwy rib front, traction rear)
235-85-16E

They ride nice and seem to be holding up very well.

I like coopers... I had 285's on my 2500. I liked the generals on the 3500 I saw at the dealership last week too... they looked real sharp!

I'll end up going w/ Coopers or Generals... Have to take a cruise down to the tire shop and see which one's I like the best...

Thanks for the input so far!!

Tony,

Cooper has a Discoverer M&S tire that is very good on snow and ice. I do not think they really are very good in mud, but you said that is not needed. Cooper pushes it as a winter tire, so I'm not sure how long they would last. Two trucks around the farm here have them and they really are good on snow and ice. The tires were bought this last winter so I'm really not sure how long they will last, but looking at the tread the tires should last.
