Removin EGR
#2
Do a search on egr`s, I recently found a bunch on the subject. . As I understand 96 on up came with EGRs. From what I read the thing to do is replace the manifold which will improve performance and plug the line. Ive read some flang off the EGR port but it will increase EGTs.

Only Kalifornia engines came with EGR. Just removing it won't help much, you need a non-EGR intake elbow for maximum benefit. The EGR intake sends all the air through a hole about the size of a quarter.

I had a Ford F150 with the 300 I6. It had an EGR valve on it. The EGR valve was designed for the Ford 460 V8 . There was a common issue with it an the trucks with a manual tranny. Basically upon initial takeoff in 1st gear the motor would stumble until the RPMs came up. The EGR flowed too much and would choke the motor until engine speed came up. There is a common fix I found to cure that problem. I put a plate between the where the valve mated to the intake manifold. Only cost me a few dollars for 2 EGR gaskets, and a piece ofthin aluminum. The Ford EGR valve was vaccum actuated and had a sensor to detect valve position. If I would have pulled the vac or sensor lines, the computer would throw codes. With the plate the computer thinks the valve works.
Hope this helps.
