Re:Remove muffler?

Question...how much can I expect to pay to have a muffler/machine shop fab a pipe to go in place of the cat/muffler? All I need is a pipe to go from the downpipe to the tailpipe where the muffler would have ended. Thanks for the advice.<br><br>Will

Re:Remove muffler?

mine cost 15 bucks, that is 5 1/2 feet of pipe with 2 very slight bends in it-3 inch.. I welded mine right on the ends that way nobody steals the pipe like they stole my muffler and cat!! ;D I have a bunch of 5 inch chunks of chrome pipe from when i drove semi and made a tip for mine, but i am thinking about scrapping it all and going 4 inch from turbo into 5 inch turned out stacks ;D been bit by the bug!!

Re:Remove muffler?

I was quoted $85 (!!!!!) from 2 different muffler shops to cut off the muffler &amp; resonator. I don't have the tools to bend the pipe myself so i went the easy way and ordered the ME kit from Geno's...which is on currently backoreded.

Re:Remove muffler?

Note to all 12 valvers. You have a cat on your exhaust. It is illegal to remove the cat. A muffler shop normally will not do this. If you remove it yourself you may be fine, unless your state has an inspection law and the inspector checks for the cat. :'(<br>Not trying to tell anyone what to do, just trying to warn you so you don't get bit in the a$$.<br>24 Valvers do not have a cat since they are efficient enough (emissions wise) without it. ;D<br><br>Chris

Re:Remove muffler?

I was told today by a person who works at a Texas inspection place that all vehicles must have mufflers now. He didn't say it was a law change or a new law or what. Anyone else heard this? I thought he might have been confused with cats, but he said no, it's mufflers, 24valves don't have cats.

Re:Remove muffler?

If your worried about Cat laws, just remove it, gut it, then reinstall it.<br><br>As far as &quot;all vehicles require a muffler&quot;, just remember, the turbo is a muffler, or a &quot;muffling device&quot; at least.<br><br>These are diesels, they are supposed to be louder than mom's minivan. ;D<br><br>phox (losing his muffler in a couple months hopefully)

Re:Remove muffler?

I just got my new system from Rip. The muffler is big enough to drop a grapefruit through- easy...<br>Has anyone mounted one of these mufflers backwards so the baffles point the other way? I would think it has to be louder, but a bit quieter than none at all [undecided]
