Remote Start

It would be nice to have, but I sure do find it reassuring to watch my gauges and make sure everything checks out when my truck first fires up, I don't take my eye off the oil pressure gauge until I know for sure that all is OK.

A buddy with a 318 gas truck used to drive out close to the parking lot and push the button to start before leaving work after shift. It's nice to get into a warm truck in winter. Any way we are walking over to our vehicles and his truck is shaking and making funny noises. As we get there it quits, turns out the thermostat stuck closed and blew the top off the rad then cooked the engine. I guess when it quit it had actually seized. He dragged it inside and over the next few days put it back together. He changed the thermostat, rad, plugs and leads and valve covers, did an oil and filter change and fired it up. He's used the truck for many years and I think one of his kids has it now.

You know that's exactly what kept me from buying one. Yesterday I was so tempted to buy a kit because I've actually been thinking about this for a while. But I don't think I'd have peace of mind until I actually see the oil pressure needle come up.
