Redline or Amsoil
gonna be getting my tranny back soon...wanna ditch the royal purple for some redline or possibly amsoil...
whats your opinions. hoping to get smoother shifts and the best protection.
also what stores carry redline on the shelf, any of the chain stores? i know of a local place that carries the amsoil but not redline.

I've run both for about the same amount of miles or so.
They are both pretty much the same, It's more of a personal thing I think. I'll run either of them in a heartbeat but prefer Amsoil. I feel it shifts better.
As for availability, I can't help you there. I'm in Canada and know of one place that carries Redline and Amsoil is most everwhere.

i dont remember the capacity, its 2 quarts more than a stock NV5600 due to the coolers. but i then add an extra .5-1 quarts like the TSB stated. there were bearing failures due to not enough fluid to lube and cool the entire assembly, and they recommend to over fill it by a quart.

Neither, I'd run Shaeffers.Everything Ive torn down has zero wear on the thrust washers/planets/end play with Shaffers oil in it,even after a few yrs at 450-500hp. http://www.schaefferoil.com/204_transmission_fluid.html
