I did my own, cleaned it, painted it, then when it was dry took the DA and sanded off the raised parts (shinny alum.) then sprayed clear on it. My son thought I was crazy-I did it the orange that the cummins emblem is. It turned out good. Pluss I think if my boy ever gets one he will do the same

Bit of advice:
If you're looking on one of the auction-type websites for a Red Valve cover, look carefully.
The Red cover for a Motorhome has the oil fill cap on the other end.
I've seen a couple there over the years
If installed on your Dodge, you will have a real hard time pouring oil in under the fresh air cowling.

Hmmmm, I did not know that, good info to have... And they are not reversable like the pan...
