recon or commander?

i have glow shift gauges but i think they are off a bit because my fuel pressure is set at 20 psi with mech. gauge and it reads 24psi and my egt is never less than 400*

my question is, will the commander work good with my xzt plus or would i be better off to go with the recon? how does the pillar mount on the commander work on the 2nd gens, any pics?

what do you all prefer?

thanx, mattiebob

I have the cammmander. I like it. My big problem with it is it eats up fuel pressure sensors however Quad is coming up with a new system.

For mounting it i took a L bracket mounted it to the pillar and called it good. THat way it was lower and was not blocking my view as much. Just my 02

the replacement pillar works well and positions the commander right on top of the dash. So far a good set up. Just make sure you don't mix up the sender wires....it provides interesting readings, don't ask me how I know this.

In need of a reflash for the ECM to install the XZT+...hopefully this week.

forgot to mention....go to NAPPY and you can get the cummins engine paint (tan) and it matches the interior almost perfect.

I have had the Recon for almost a year now, and it's alright. It works well and does what it is supposed to, the only downside is only getting to look at 1 parameter at a time. But I will be getting an Adrenaline once everything is squared away with that and the Pulse to go with it. If you don't plan on getting anything else soon, go with the Commander, more $ than the Recon, but multiple parameters.

i had read another post about hooking the xzt+ to the commander. and they said that the connector was different on like the first 500 units. qzilla said they was sending adapters out so people would not have to send theirs in.

I just installed the commander Monday with the pillar mount. It looks great and I like seeing all 4 read parameters. I do not have FP set up (just EGT, Boost, Tranny, & Water), but the install went well. The pillar mount needed very little modifications (cut out a section a little more with my dremmel to make it fit better, but it was the piece that is in-between the dash and door so you can not see it). I got mine on ebay – buy it now for $359, which included the commander, pillar mount and included free overnight shipping. The pillar mount is slightly off from the light grey color of the interior, but it is not that bad. I do like the fact that I could keep my handle.

for the 2nd gen, the pillar commander mount is a complete replacement ordered w/or w/out the speaker.
