Recon Cab light Question

Question about the wiring. My 01' didnt come with cablights factory. I recieved the Recon SuperWhite Cab Lights for Christmas. It has little wires coming off of it. Do I need any additional Harnesses or anything? Or is it there already and I just wire them in? I know about drilling the holes and Ive got that covered.

TIA,
Daniel

i put cab lights on mine as it didn't come with them either. i took my corner light out and figured out which wire turned on the marker light and then pulled out the light switch and found the same wire (by the color code of the wire) and tapped into that then just ran one long wire up through the a-pillar and across the inside of the cab under the headliner.... and then tapped those short wires into the long one..... no problems yet!! hope this helps.

I would personally tap the cablights into the trailer tow relay (if your truck has one.) just to keep the extra load off the headlamp switch. The park lamp circuit is already pretty heavily taxed. If you don't have your trailer taillamp circuit powered by a relay, you may want to consider adding one for the cab lights.

I am waiting on a call from a local body guy who has done several installs, to see what he says, but keep the ideas coming.

Did you get the LED set? I think all the new ones come with LEDs. I wouldn't worry about current draw with the LEDs. You can pretty much tap in anywhere on the parking light circuit.

It should be the LED's, but i would also use the trailer one. Might as well save the parking lights from the strain. You never know

They are LED. After talking to the Body man I am just going to use the parking light circuit ran up to the lights. I was going to put my big rig running lights on today but they didnt send the brackets.

If you're worried about straining the circuit then wire up a simple bosch relay. They only cost a couple bucks and that will ensure they draw power directly from the battery (or whatever power source you tap for them).

I installed mine today, I just took the switch out and used a test light to find the wire, I believe it was orange and white on mine.

Thanks *****, I think the 98 and up have a different Switch. Can anyone confirm which wire I should be looking for?

Haloman, are the cab lights installed yet and if so how do you like them? I am trying to deside on stock ones or Recons LED kit. I light the idea of LED better but was wondering about how bright thet are vs. the stock ones.
