Rebuilt Slave

Just wandering if there is a rebuild kit out for the slaves in our trucks. I think mine is getting weak and the pedal is getting closer and closer to the floor.
Is there any upgrades out? if so prices would be nice to hear.
thanks

I only got one answer from when I asked that same question... no. They say the clutch assembly is sealed from the factory and cannot be rebuilt. Just another way the dealerships try to get greedy I guess.

I tried something first and it works for now. I added 1/2" to the slave rod it brought the pedel back up and feelt nice and strong. it shifts better and faster than before so hopefully it will last until I can pay off some debts I have on parts

You can buy just the slave cylinder from Napa. I have before (yes it was for a dodge/cummins).
Or, I was also told that Southbend also sells slaves and masters separately.

Since all three of you have DD clutches, I have a question.

Since I've put mine in, the truck has been really hard to get into gear, and shifts kinda like I'm not even using the clutch. Are they all like this for a while?

Also, I had to rebuild the tranny while I had it out, so would brand new synchros have any effect on this? (Old ones were shot, and I had half a tooth missing from fifth gear , but after 280,000 miles, something bound to be wore )

Thanks,
Chris

I had a hard time with 5th and reverse at first. I finally figured out that I just needed to adjust my seat forward to depress the clutch further than before. It worked for me. Give that clutch about 5-700 miles and you'll be used to it.

MikeR,

Thanks for the info! I wish you were around when I'd asked about it the first time. Oh well, can't have everything.

I'll drive it a bit and see if it gets any better. I'm now at ~500-550 miles, and should hit 800 miles on it later today. It really is nice pulling the trailer, except for the chatter it has between 1500-1700

Oh well, It holds the power, VERY WELL.
Chris

BTW, shouldv'e seen the stocker! The rivets were about the only thing engaging, and the disc was a completely different color from being so hot. Flywheel was fubar'd too
