rebuilding HX-35

i noticed shaft play in my HX-35 (in the radial direction, not longitudinal) and even though the wheel isnt contacting any hard surfaces, i'd feel better if there was NO play.

so can an individual rebuild these things themselves? or do i need to take it to a shop or exchange it for a rebuild?

i'd prefer to rebuild it myself...

if its possible to rebuild, where do you get the rebuild kit from?

thanks!
Pat

does that seem to look correct? who's done this? easy? time consuming?

i appreciate it!

I am thinking about doing mine with some upgrades from Htt and from what I have heard it isn't that hard but the turbo needs to be balanced after you do it and that takes a little time...

Here is a link for all the rework kits you need. Go to the Holset web site for instructions on how to maintain balance and install rebuild kit.

they use the same bearing kit....same shaft size between the two. but different wheel size (obviously) and therefore the reason the 40's grenade more, but also the reason you can hybrid the the 35 to a 35-40.

i ended up getting the kit from a local diesel shop. at some point i would like to upgrade to HTT's 35/40 kit but not quite yet.
