Would like to see some pictures of some if you can post them, I need a set that allows 2" suspension travel still as per the rules here. Also looking for ideas on how how to make them. Don't have a welder... so thats not an option right now. Thanks.

 

I just built a set for my cousins pulling truck.

He runs solid blocks all the time except for when we run somewhere where 1" travel is required.

I built his by taking some 2in square tubing, welding it to a flat plate of steel and drilling holes to where it can be mounted with the bump stops threaded holes on the bottom of the frame rail.

Then I welded a large nut in the bottom of each of the square 2" pieces of tubing and have a threaded bolt that threads into the nut. They can be adjusted from fully blocked, down to about 2" of travel by threading the bolts in or out with a wrench. If you dont need the adjustability, you could just use some square tubing cut to length.

Do you need 2" travel with weight in the bed, or with no weight in the bed?

Sounds easy enough, I guess I should just go buy a low budget welder and try it out. There has been a lot of things I haven't been able to make due to lack of welder.

The rules here just state Suspension must have 2" travel. Granted I don't think they check. But the rare time they do check I guess I'd like to be in line with their rules.

Go buy a rediculously large front bumper, get a hydraulic winch.

 

Please explain to me why and where your only allow 2inch suspension travel. that is completely ridiculous to only have 2inch of travel

 

take a old set of rear shocks, take them apart and sleeve then with solid pipe and put it back together. Then it looks like you got full travel but you will be fully blocked. Thats how I get around it here. they say no blocks but everyone runs air bags full to the max and they say there within the rules. I bet there are guys there doing the same thing if your at these brush pulls.

 

In sled pulling, you want a solid suspension. You dont want any travel, because if your suspension is compressing, you are loosing hitch height, and wont pull as good.

Some places say you cant block it solid. You must either have 1 or 2 inches of travel. I think you should be able to block them solid or you shouldnt be able to run blocks at all. There is no good reason why you should have to have blocks with travel.

My brother just made a spacer and lowered the stock bump stops down.
