Question Reaction to 3k GSK

I have read all the threads on the 3 gsk. I was just wondering if you guys could check out my sig and tell me how you think my truck will react egt's, power, and it will affect the life of my baby. Thinkin about ordering the kit from TST.

It won't hurt it. I don't even think you'll notice an increase in egts. The gsk doesn't add more horsepower, it just shifts the powerband and allows you to rev all the way to 3k rpms. Your throttle becomes more sensitive too.

3k gsk

I just did mine, although I did the plate and gsk at the same time. When I got into the pump I found the previouse owner had taken the plate out. So I went from no plate to #10 + 3k gsk. I noticed a nice upgrade in power. Nothing that will throw you back in the seat, but all the torque I want for towing and I can get 'em to spin now while feathering the brake. Big increase in EGT's however. I'm now trying to figure out how to get them lower. I cannot really get into the throttle w/ out touching 1400*. So, maybe if I could get the EGT's lower and was able to really get into it, I'd tell you there would be a big increase in power.

I considered these upgrades somewhat mild, now I'm chasing down an EGT problem and wondering where I'm going to get the cash for a bigger turbo and a timing job>>

cool thanks for the help, from a dead stop WOT my egt's will hit 1400 at about 75. Is yours worse than that? Im letting my stock hx-35 run 45 lbs boost ( I know thats not good at all) but I figure when I kill it I can get the Super B special ive been lookin at

I just blocked the wastegate compleatly today. Big difference!!! EGT's are manageable now, before I could hit 1400 quite easily, like at half throttle. Now I'm likely pushing 45 psi and it feels bigger, better, faster, even more responsive and I'm very pleased. With your adjustable elbow and the fact you're hitting 45 psi should set you up w/ a nice ride. I'm going to time mine to 15.5* when I get the chance, but other than that I'm really happy w/ all of my mods. Looks like you will have about the same set up as I do, have fun and make sure you let us know how it runs when you are done w/ the mods.

I was told that hitting 45psi on the hx 35 isn't necessarily that bad as long as you don't take your foot off of the skinny pedal right away. Let off somewhere inbetween slowly and abrubtly and the 35 should be fine. I guess we'll find out.

are u running the stock turbo? ^ 45psi is to much for it to run safely..

Umm.. 45 psi is way too much for the stock turbo. Why risk it? 35 psi max!

My gauge pins at 30, what do they run plugged? Maybe we are just looking for an excuse to get a bigger turbo

45 psi is not only bad on the turbo, ever consider what your drive pressure is like at 45 psi?

How long are we talking about running 45 psi here? If I put it to the floor, my guage will spike. If I'm running 70 on the hwy, it holds around 5-10 psi now. If i'm driving in the city it will climb to 22-28psi at every light. Before I bolted the wastegate I could see 1400* on the highway easiliy. I could see the same thing at 45 mph when the tc locks up. Now, EGT's are lower. So my question to rootemblay is how long do you see 45 psi?

if you are at WOT, as long as you are gaining rpm's you'll be holding your curent boost wether it 45psi or 20psi. when your engine evens out meaning you have no more R's to gain limited by your governor or plate, then your boost will come down.

Set it so ur turbo peaks at 34psi under WOT, and if ur EGT's and smoke are to much, its time for a bigger turbo.

You haven't mentioned your smoke situation. A lot of smoke indicates too much fuel, and a lot of it unburned. You could try nudging your #10 back and then a full-throttle run to see if you get less smoke. You will find you do not loose any power until you move it back too far. At a certain point you will have full power and less smoke, and you might develop less EGT also.

You're blowing hot air into the engine with anything over 35psi with a stock HX-35. Adjust your boost elbow and I bet you'll see a reduction in EGT's.

I have done some fine tuning, I have to slide the plate almost in the middle posistion to get it to spike 35 psi ( hardly no smoke) EGT's were lower. with the plate forward it will spike 45 when the TC locks in overdrive and spike about 42 in the other gears. I know that it is bad on the turbo, I also know for me to go any further for power I need an upgrade. I am curious what boost pressures require a head stud kit ( that is what worries me most) I have to be close if not over that limit . Oh and Box 5 I have had it full forward since the dyno a couple weeks ago (egt's arent to outrageous if im not too stupid with it). Im not to worried about the turbo, but everything else does worry me. And also I wanted to learn a little about porting and polishing, can yall school me a little?? And siebertl do you have the 180 or 215 hp pump? just curious
