there is no way your stock torque converter and valve body will take an extra 265 ft-lb of torque. That type of power increase will require other mods, IMO.

EZ Raptor
Rangererst,
To my knowledge, someone correct me if I'm wrong, it's the same product with a new label on it as the EZ. The EZ is 65 hp and 185 torque, I have a feeling the info about the 285 torque is a mistake. We have sold a zillion EZ's on auto's and if you use good common sense they will do well with it, it will add extra stress to the trans but the only option is stay stock, and that ain't no fun !!!!!! Call us if you have some tech info you need etc.

I have the Raptor box on my truck. I contacted the selling company shortly after receiving mine (Dyno Sources). I was told that the Raptor is a modified Edge EZ. In my opinion, there probably are very few differences between the EZ and Raptor. My Raptor has been a good box so far, I've got is piggy-backed with a Blue Chip APB.

tHANKS MARK AND 59D. It'smy understanding the EZ has one set power level while the raptor has maybe 3 or 4 levels, perhaps more like the comp box? 59Dsul, what level do you run at and is it difficult to change settings? I noticed your double clutch,
did you smoke the original? At what setting if so? Do you do any towing at all? I'm thinking summer/winter adjustments would do me ok without the need to swicth on the go with the comp and about $100 difference. I also like the flat line TQ claims if true of the raptor. Open and learnin'-RANGERSTY

Ranger,
Sorry for the delay. If I had to make a bet, I would say that the Raptor is the same as an EZ. I run mine on the middle setting. I don't think adjusting the settings will add more peak power. Switching the jumper inside the box is supposed to adjust at what boost level extra fuel (and maybe timing as well?) will be added. Sorry if that sounds vague, it's been a while since I reviewed it. As far as the clutch, I've burned up a few in this truck. I truck pull several times a year and decided it was time to quit messing around with clutches that "might hold" and go to one that "will hold"

I just picked up my first diesel last week, an '01 white extended cab with 8ft bed, leather and all the goodies. The mechanic whom I am friends with has had them all his life. He told me that he had an extra Vanaaken smart box which he currently runs on his truck. He offered to sell me the extra for $400, said he paid $800. They claim to add 60hp and 167ft lbs torque. I tried it out for the past few days and notice a difference over stock. Will the tranny and other components hold up to this or not, and how does this box and price compare to the others out there? Buy or dont buy?

As far as will the tranny hold up, and I am assuming that you have an auto, it will be fine. And the price for I don't know if it is good, but you can buy and edge ez for about 500 and it is comparable in power, 65 hp and 185 ft. lbs. Check out the links page and you will get a good idea of what things are worth. Also fill in you sig. so that we know what kind of truck you have.

I put "Edge EZ" because most people can identify what the EZ is, if I put Raptor, and the sticker is gay looking, people would keep asking what is a Raptor. I removed the Raptor sticker once I got it and left it plain. But you are correct. If you look at them they are the same. I did get mine for $400.00 though. Sorry if it sounds confusing.
