Raptor 100 installed...couple questions for y'all
So I installed my Raptor 100 the other day. Seems to be a great product so far...fit and finish is great, I've got 20-21 psi fuel pressure idle, usually never below 15 WOT, the whole nine yards. Too early to tell on fuel economy but I'm not expecting much after all it's just a lift pump.
Anyway, the only 'issue' I seem to have is that *sometimes* under somewhat hard acceleration I hear the pump making what I can only describe as a "whirrring" or "wooshing" sound. And when it does this the fuel pressure seems to drop a few psi...still well within adequate range but I'm worried something may not be right. Is this normal? First thing that comes to mind is an air leak somewhere but I've checked and double checked and I have no fuel leaks but maybe there is something I'm missing? Maybe those "quick connect" fittings don't seal as well as they should? Anyone else had this issue? Any insight would be appreciated...thanks, Beau.

Its a quick connect fitting from pureflow that connects to the stock pickup on the tank. I'll tell you what I had a heck of a time getting the stock line off...not much room to get my paws in there but I eventually got it off. Zip tied it to another hose and popped on the new 1/2 inch line with quick connect fitting. The fitting that connects the line from the raptor to the fuel filter canister is basically the exact same thing too.

Well for what it's worth its been a few days and the pump still hiccups once in awhile. From further research I've pretty much concluded that odd noises or increased noise from the raptor is due to air. On some other forums people have seemed to sometimes have a problem with draw straws cavitating with higher flow pumps and although I don't have a bigger draw straw I do have the factory one and thats the only place I can think air is getting through. I'm considering purchasing that Hellman sump. Looks like a nice product and a few guys were saying it solved their problems, made the pump run quieter, etc...I just hate having to spend another $165 when I just spent $400. Oh well it's only money! I'll report back if I do buy it with the results.
