Raptor 100 installed - code P0230

I installed a Raptor 100 yesterday. I was pleased with the results. For now, I'm still using the stock fuel line between the fuel filter canister and the VP44. I'll pick up the fittings from the local hydraulic hose shop and use the extra fuel hose and make my own big line kit.

Anyway, I now have a P0230 code. It's easy to understand why I have the code though. The relay draws less amperage than the stock lift pump does, therefore it would seem the P0230 code is to be expected. Is this something I simply live with, or is there something I can do to make it go away? I guess I could install the correct value resistor to simulate the amperage draw of the factory lift pump. Not really interested in doing that though.

Thanks.

The computer is just not seeing a completed circuit. I have a gauge light bulb plugged into mine.

The coil on the relay would be a completed circuit. There should be continuity across the two terminals of the coil of the relay. It shouldn't be any different than an incandescent light bulb, an electric water heater element, an electric oven element, or across the two leads on an electric motor.

Not if it's a standard wiring kit,

The standard wiring kits for all the aftermarket systems that use the factory lift pump harness for a hot trigger point for the relay, also do not use a ground wire in the same plug. So, you are getting power, but not completing that individual circuit.

Some have had luck simply grounding the other wire.

I'm not sure how that can be. You have to have a Negative on a DC electrical circuit. That Negative is the path to ground. There has to be a completed electrical circuit or the item being powered will not operate.

The factory plug to the Lift Pump is made up of two wires. If I'm reading my FSM correct, than one is the Negative (ground) and the other is the Positive and comes from the Engine Control Module. The ground is from G107, which also supplies ground to the Fuel Heater, the Cummins Bus, and the A/C Compressor Clutch.

Went to Checkers and borrowed their scanner. Cleared the stored DTC and it did not return. Must have been some fluke when I initially fired up the new pump.

It's a sweet pump, I installed one yesterday. Very satisfied with pressures. It sure feels like my truck woke up.
