Ram air upgrade
#31
Well that is exactly it, as dodgeram said the EGTs fall to insanely low levels (the temperature of combustion and EGTs are directly related to the air intake temperature) which; can/will lead to fuel in the oil, not allow the motor oil to clean itself out, imply the fuel isn't being burnt as well as it should be which means less power or less mileage for the same power.
I'd actually like a turbo timer, not to let it cool down but to be able to go into the store and leave it running without the keys in it. I hate shutting the motor down to just start it a minute from then again.
Good idea whitmore, looks like it works quite well to!

Hey whitmore, I see in your info you have 10 guages, what are you all monitoring? I decided on two rods pods on either side of the dash with the current stock gauges as a center. I am fit up to four in each one. I am getting a Boost, pyro, fuel pressure, tranny temp, and now probably an intake temp. I was wondering what are other gauges that are fairly important that you are using?

Gauges I have
Fuel psi pre
Fuel psi post
EGT
Boost
intake horn temp
aux fuel level
rearend temp
tranny temp
onboard air psi
air filter inches of water
And the nornal cluster stuff
Wanting to add exhaust back psi gauge!
Cheers, Kevin

A exhaust back pressure gauge is one I wouldn't mind having. That way I can monitor the workings of the exhaust brake. As for rear end temp, I dont think I have heard of one getting over 200* unless there is something wrong. Adding a post EGT wouldn't be bad either and I like the fuel pressure post and pre, but what are you monitoring? I mean post and pre to what, the fuel filter?
#35
Yes, pre (fuel going into the filter) and post ( fuel leaving the filter) this way I can see the differential pressure on the filter itself, then I know when to change it, I do change it every 10K and have never registered a DP more than 2 psi.

I installed a back pressure gauge for a guy using his 60 lb boost gauge. The e-brake switch toggles back and forth between back pressure and boost using a 3 way solenoid valve that was once used for switching between two fuel tanks on Ferd gasser.
Works slick since you don't usually have boost and the e-brake on at the same time.
