Rain-X washer fluid?

Anyone using it? I bought a couple of gallons but before I could use a friend told me all it did was streak up his windows.
This isn't the regular Rain-X window treatment but is washer fluid.

If it is the orange stuff that is all I use in the winter time. Freeze up on the windshield is not near as bad and it also helps much more when trying to get the heavy frost/ice off when I either am too lazy to scrape or just do a poor job of scraping the windows. I don't find that it streaks the windows any more or less than the regular blue washer fluid.

If that guy is talking about the regular rain-x treatment I agree with that. I like it but have quit using it for two reasons first when using the wipers it does seem to take a bit to clear the haze after the wiper wipes and second it sure seemed to me that it ate up the wiper blades much quicker.

The washer fluid is ok, pricier than the blue.

About the windshield treatment, you don't need to use the wipers nearly as much with the treatment, at least until it starts wearing out. It does eat up the wiper blades.

I quit using it, works great but with light rain it hazes from the wipers. At night under amber street lights it is a pain.

I use it all the time
It's great.
I use orange in winter and green in summer.
have been using it for 3~4 years now.
I wouldn't be without it.

It has to be raining really hard for me to have to turn my wipers on more than intermitten s/p

I use the treatment heavily on the side windows. It works great, but I hate the results on the windshield as previously stated.

I just used my first gallon of the orange stuff. I love it. I'm gonna get some more.

I use the Orange stuff and like it a lot. It DOES streak badly under some conditions, and seems to be hard on wipers. It doesn't do a very good job of cleaning the windshield.

But it does a GREAT job of putting on the Rain-x treatment. The stuff works like a dream in bad rain. I figure I would rather have great visibility in bad rain and mediocre visibility in all other conditions. It's a tradeoff to get better inclement weather visibility.

One thing to take note of: the Rain X will destroy any decals/stickers that it gets on over the long term. I am in the military, and my vehicle ID sticker (to get on base) takes a beating from the stuff. They fade and then crack and want to peel off.

If you like the stuff, I would recommend stocking up on it. The EPA is moving to have all the methanol-containing windhsield products off the shelves. This incluses the winter Rain-X.

I agree. The treatment stuff does work great on the windshield but it seems like you need to do it more often to really keep it working well. I like to use the treatment on the side and rear windows. I use the Orange washer fluid all the time and that is super stuff. I don't think it works as well as the treatment but doesn't eat my wipers and don't need to keep adding it all the time, just a squirt now and then.

I'm wondering if these de-icing washer fluids are hard on the paint. Any ideas?

It seems like they would have a hard time with repeat sales if they ate paint.

That is true. I guess I didn't so much mean they ate the paint of the truck but maybe ate away at the coat of wax on there or possibly lead to fading the finish if in contact with it long enough?

Maybe I am being concerned about nothing?

Using the Rainex messed up the finish on the windshield rubber. It no longer has the smooth new look.
