Rain and stacks...
Gonna be putting 5" slash cut stacks on here shortly...anybody have any problems with rain? I mean, it'd prolly take a bit of rain to do anything...I can just imagine firing this thing up and having 2 water fountains...

not unless you've got holes in the cab...
I didn't drill any holes in my pipes, but I've got a couple PINHOLE sized holes in a couple of the welds that I didn't catch, and I've only had a couple spots here and there after a rain... my old stack setup put soot EVERYWHERE when water got in the stacks!!!
I have less exhaust smell in the cab now than I did with the exhaust exiting in the back... at stop lights, I used to have to put the AC/heat on recirculate. now with the stacks, I can leave it on fresh. all the air is pulled through the cowl, so a 1/16" hole under your bed isn't going to cause exhaust vapors to enter the cab.

I left my truck sitting for a day while the turbo was out and it was raining. I dont have any holes in the exhaust either and when I fired her up I had black splatter everywhere, on the cab on the bed etc. It comes off real easy its just a pain sometimes.

I have turnouts and even after a down pour I have never had splatter and soot stains. Plus I think Turnouts look better but thats my opinion. Hail turnouts

agreed... I had turnouts... tons of soot shower everywhere... so I said, if I'm gonna have soot shower, I might as well have miter cuts (I think they look better)
I don't have near the problem I did w/ the turnouts!
my truck is white BTW!

I have never hadd any soot. My stacks are also turned straight out so maybe that helps me but even when I had the slanted last year I did not have a soot problem.

I don't remember whose idea this is, but I read a post from somebody who ran the 4" pipe up inside the 5" stacks for a foot or so. The adapters were drilled to allow the water that collected to drain outside the pipes. It rarely rains straight down, most of the water hits the stack walls and drains so nothing gets into the exhaust to come out as black splatter. The set I'm building will incorporate this idea.
