Rad?
Ok, so I have an Edge Comp and am getting my FASS and tranny soon and was wondering about the RAD. I don't know a thing about it but I do want to have some hard launches and from what I understand, the truck won't let me do it all that well do to defueling in 1st and 2nd gear. I don't even know what "defueling" really is but I want to get this figured out.
Can someone please explain what this is all about and explain the down sides to the RAD?
Thanks a lot in advance.

The RAD will allow you to have higher boost launches and will keep the truck from falling on it's face after you leave the line. Before I got the RAD I would be on the line spooling up and when I got to 15lbs of boost it would instantly defuel to 10lbs or less and when I launched, the truck would stumble and finally take off. Not the case at all with the RAD. Us 2001 and 2002 drag racers couldn't do well without it.

The RAD (Race Anti Defueler) only works on 01-02 automatic trucks.
What happens is, on 01-02's the factory computer is designed to derate the power on take-off so you don't destroy the stock auto transmission. The RAD module shuts off your dash signals, so the computer never sees your making power at take-off, therefore it doesn't derate power.
The down side...you don't have dash gauges when you have the RAD module turned on.
As a side note, if you want to do harder than 15psi launches you better step up and get the upgraded input and output shaft because they will break.
