Raced the truck this weekend

Well I finally found some tires and wheels to run on my truck to lower it enough so I could pass tech. I got some 235/85/16s and the truck looked really funny. Anyways this was my first time running on these small tires because usually I race at truck shows and NHRA tech is not really a big concern. Anyways there was over 400 vehicles at the track and it was super packed. I made my first pass and I launchec at 10 psi of boost. Front left tire came off the ground real bad (I also dont run sway bars) then I got wheel hop in the front and the rear. Looked very violent from the spectators view supposidly. Got back in the thottle and ran a 14.18@91 Not bad for a flying brick, so about 2 hours later of sitting in my truck I made a second run with a 3lb boost launch and everything went good and I ran a 14.08 @95 with a 2.00 60ft. I know I could of been in the 13s if I got another pass but the track closed at 12:30 I am hoping to run at the track in a couple more weeks and break into the 13s.

I played this weekend at a country track in Ardmore, Ok. Sat. was a test & tune day.

Saw my first SRT, other than a picture. He and I ran head to head twice. Both times he beat me to the 1/4 mile, but only because he got a three to four length jump at the start. He did high 13's at 97 & 98 mph. I ran mid 14's at 99 & 101 mph.
That's about as good as I can do at 7500 lb with no power braking (no billet shafts). Some day, maybe.

I am sure your 60' times were around 2-2.5??

The MPH at the end of 1/4 show you have substantially more HP then the SRT.

My dad did a PDI (post dealer inspection) to a new SRT right off the transport. I bet him and a bunch of other guys in the shop that I would waste it to 100mph.

A little back gound on PDI; When the dealer recieves any new vehicle a service tech is required to do a XXX point inspection and put a min of 8 - 10 miles on the vehicle. (To make sure the factory didn't forget anything.)

Well I followed him to a long 2 lane, stright stretch of highway. IT WAS ON!!

I put the t case selector in 4 hi and built about 15 PSI and then let her rip! He rode the clutch pretty good in the SRT and it only chirped them. I had him beat by 1 car length @ 40 MPH and about 4 by the time i hit 100.

The only person that would not take the bet was the heavy line/cummins guy. Maybe he knew better.

Wow those are really slow!!

Were you leaving with no boost??

Running at 101 you should have a mid to low 13 truck. Of course leaving with 20 psi with lock up switch and 4 hi.

Yup...see above No power braking (no boost) cause no Billet! Bill K. (DTT) hammered it home to me very well..."There are only two kinds of drag racers (that don't have billet shafts)....Those who have broken shafts, and those who will."

RJ

PS, While the SRT was not as fast as I would have expected....It's got to be the prettiest truck on the road!

My last dyno in Concrd,CA was pretty fun. Brand new SRT dyno'd 390hp, I'd have thought more, but maybe it was still tight being new. Not sure how many miles, but paper plates.
I agree, that is one SWEET truck. Looks great, sounds great. After playing around 3k rpm it was strange seeing a Dodge hitting 5500!
