Question on batteries

Been looking for new batteries the last couple days and i really wanted the optima red tops but the price is out of the budget right now, everyone wanted about $120 per battery. So to get to the question:

Can i use a starting/deep cycle battery. I found a group 27 that has 750 cca and a 160 minute reserve time. About the same as factory specs.

The money you spend on Red Tops is cheap compared to the damage caused by leaking lead acids batteries, and they are 40 pounds lighter! Better MPGs!

A hybrid? Starting and Deep Cycle are two different kinds of batteries, either will work, but a starting battery would be more suited umless you run your battery down to near dead regularly...

Optimas are money well spent.

That type battery is a marine dual purpose. Has on the battery starting/deep cycle. Was just curious if you all thought it would hold up or opinions on this type of battery.

Those batteries are almost never worth having ,unless you've got such a limited space that only one will fit , what those batteries are is a compromize of both so not good for either job, will not last as long as the battery ment for the job. I get on average 10 yrs. use of my deep cycles and my starting batteries always last at least as long as the warentee most often a year or so longer , if you do maitance on the starting, charging system you do not have leaking batteries that is either overcharging[regulator] or shorted out plates, I buy interstate batteries the best for the money and you get better service [ that isn't just the Co. its finding a place that sells them and will warentee with out sales slip, theres a 1 800 # for locating] batteries Plus is next for the same reasonds. I bought 2 of the bigest that fit for 136 bucks.
