I'd like to know also. Looking at getting one for my 2002 CTD at work and my wifes truck(03 duramax).
Only thing I've heard is that people out grow them because it is only a +30/65hp tuner.

I have had mine in now for about 5 weeks. I made a trip 2441 miles and got 17.7 MPG at 75 to 80 MPH most of the way. I kept it in the center setting for mileage so is that good - not sure. Just returned yesterday from a 700 mile round trip and used the mileage setting going and the towing setting (plus 65 HP and 200 ft) on the way back towing the 5er and boat. I have to get fuel tonight to figure the MPG but I can say that stock to Lake Powell from Denver and back towing the same rig I got 10.7 MPG with nothing. So I will see what I get with the Chip. I just do not feel a lot of diffrenece in the settings. The mileage one does feel like it detunes but the towing feels like stock to me. I did see more agressive tunes in the beta downloads maybe that would make a change.

The center setting is off (boost fooling only)- towards the green wire is GO or the fuel setting and down - I think it is the white wire is timing only. I have had about a 1.5 MPG increase using the timing setting - have not left it in fueling for long enough to figure out mileage. I do feel quite a difference in fueling from about 1800 rpm up with the 1000 program. Have you seen a change in EGT?

I'm running the 2005 tune. Now that we are on summer fuel my EGT's have dropped about 150 degrees when cruising, if I keep my foot light on the pedal. Mileage in timing only mode is up about 1.5mpg. On mine down is off (stock), middle is timing only(fuel economy) and up is timing & fuel(HP). My truck definitely is more responsive from about 1600 rpm up. The power is really more noticeable when the turbo starts to spool up. My best on a short trip was 21.2 mpg at highway speeds. I have been quite happy with mine. The worst thing is there is no documentation on the switch. But its pretty easy to figure out. Search for a post called XZT+ Help, I attached a file there that explains the tune features. I have not seen any tunes higher than 3000.
It seems that common rail people are split, whether they like the XZT or not.

I've had the 3k tune installed for awhile and use it on the timing&fuel mode when towing. It's worked well and w/the timing only mode my mpg avg is about 18 @ 65-70 mph. You should notice a definate difference when using the same tune and changing your setting on the fly. Overall, a good programmer but as stated, one always wants more. I'm hoping to combine it w/some mach 1.6 soon.

i just installed it my truck and am having issues updating it to the 2008 tune. i am currently running what it came with out of the box. right now, i barely notice any difference in switch positions. i can tell what mode i am in if i compare one right after the other, but if i were to hop in not knowing the switch position - i would not be able to tell which mode it is in.

does this sound similar to the 2000 tunes? or will i be happier once i finally get it updated with a 2000 tune? anyone else experiencing similar problems? when i connect the box to my computer, the computer recognizes it and then disconnects - connects - disconnects - connects over and over until i physically unplug it. i need some help from quad with this. maybe he'll chime in here. if not, i'll send a pm.

also, i was told (from qzilla) that the off position is towards the notch in the switch threads, middle is timing only, and away from the notch is fuel and timing.

Yes, far one direction is off, middle is timing and the far other direction is fuel and timing.

I notice no difference from off to the middle (timing) setting as far as engine sound and really no difference in mileage in the timing only setting. But what I do notice is on the "off" setting, I get hi-idle after warm which is what my tune is suppose to do. I also SEEM to notice a higher coolant temp on the timing-only setting than before. Which would make sense on timing only.

Power is fun - I have RV275s but they were in before the box. At altitude, I can leave a dark haze if I want to on the fuel/timing setting. Towing at altitude, my EGTs get hot real fast up hills so I am normally towing on the timing-only setting and just use it to burst past slower fords.

Your sig shows the 3k tune? If this is installed, you should notice a diff in the timing/fuel mode. Not sure what alt you are running at but the max I've seen while towing is 1100*. You may want to try to clear and reload the tune. Once loaded properly, you shouldn't have issues of it only working sometimes. If this is the case you may have a "box" issue. Quad is great w/cust svc so you may try contacting them if the "clear/reload" does not work for you.

I have one in the classifieds I'm taking offers on.

Nice towing setup with mild injectors!

i just recently got my box properly updated and now runningthe 2008 tune. i got it to work on a work computer, so now i know what to do at home.

i put the box back in the truck and the high idle actually worked this time!!!
although it seems the tune is now loaded properly, i have yet to drive the truck and won't be able to do so for about a week's time! (i only had enough time to plug it in and let it run for about 2-3 minutes) when i get back i will look forward to driving it.

i went to the 2008 tune from the tune it was sent with in the box. i was disappointed with the original 1000 tune. i couldn't tell which setting i was in until i looked at the switch. will i be able to notice more of a 'kick in the pants' with the 2008 tune?
