Quad XZT+...
I recently purchased a Quad XZT+ after reading about it on here. I sold my Edge EZ and don't want to tap the pump so figured this would work the best. I like it so far. It has been on for about 1000 miles and I definately noice the difference. I am running the 3000 tune (is there a newer one?) A couple of things I noticed:
- I did not gain any MPG at all compared to stock with the middle setting (timing mileage max) It says 2-4, but I haven't seen anything yet
- The power gained on the 3rd setting is great! Truck pulls like a train with virtually no smoke ( a good thing) and my EGT's stay in check which is nice. I actually think I lost MPG running in this setting, but I haven't run enough in that setting to confirm that.
- When running in the timing/fuel setting, the truck stutters a little running past 1600rpm, is this normal? I thought the 3000 tune was supposed to fix that issue? It clears up right away however.
Overall a great chip, love the high idle feature. A little dissappointed that my mileage didn't improve at all, I would have like to see even 1/2 a MPG improvement, but oh well...definately worth the money and the best chip you can buy if you don't want to tap the pump. Throttle response is better than the Smarty IMHO.

Try the XZT+_BETA1 tune. This is the only tune that eliminated all of my surging. I get the best MPG with this tune set to performance+timing. It's not much of an improvement; I'd say 1-2 MPG improvement.

I didn't notice an improvement in mpgs either but thats not why I bought it. I also didn't lose any either so thats a good thing. I've been running mine for almost 2 years and it has never let me down and the on the fly stuff sure is fun.

I just ordered one for my otherwise stock 2002, I'm also interested in the best tune. I'm mostly interested in the best MPG and a little more power for towing, so I'll probably not run on the hottest setting. I'm a little worried about fuel pressure, I had the in-tank fuel pump installed under warranty and under heavy throttle my fuel pressure light comes on (set at 5 PSI). I ordered some hi-flow banjo bolts, if that doesn't help I'll be putting in a FASS.

Had mine in now for about 90 days and sure did see an improvement with the power setting. I didn't get the whole benefit until I added the 4" exhaust and the new intake and filter. Now I am expecting a speeding ticket any time. After adding the intake it will smoke if the foot is to the floor. As stated the pulling power is great my MPG is the same as before at 11.5 - 12 pulling 5er and boat on the power setting.
I would like to try the mileage setting but the power one in too fun

The chip was added last to my truck and I saw about a 1mpg city/ 2mpg highway. I run it mostly on the mileage tune. What kind of boost are you guys seeing? I can get and maintain 22 and that's it with the 2005 tune. I was thinking of trying the 3000 tune again to see if it will increase. I'm wondering if I need a boost elbow to see more. Any ideas?

The XZT+ is a good little module, nice bump of power. I saw a pretty good increase MPG raise as well when running in timing setting. Not sure exactly how much higher it went, but I was able to run 24MPG Highway with my 99 Dually.
Dave2001, yes you will need a boost elbow to see more than 22PSI.

Beta1
I have tried a number of tunes and the best so far has been the Beta1.
The 3000 seems to make the most smoke (way more than I was expecting!) and pulls hard but also seems to give me slightly lower MPG and shudder at cruising speed.
Using 3000 tune my last tank (30%hwy/70% city) was 14 L/100km (16.8 USMPG) on the timing only setting. This tank will be on timing & Fuel setting to compare.
Under hard acceleration my truck will reach and hold about 32 psi boost.
Switching back to BETA1 after this tank.
Very satisifed with this product!

How does the boost elbow (more boost) effect EGT's while towing? I have a 4K slide in camper and a ~3K boat I'm towing. Stock I have to back off it pulling long grades to keep the EGT's under 12k which is usually means pushing 15 PSI of boost and 1100-1150 EGT's.
Thanks

Your boost seems low for even a stock truck, I would check for boost leaks as well. But to answer your question, yea a boost elbow should help a little bit.

Dinner, Thanks you confirmed what I thought.
My understanding is that in timing mode the tune is the same as the mileage max. When you load a tune it is a timing and fuel (HP)tune only.

Beta1
I like the BETA1 tune for a few reasons:
1) Absolutely no noticeable shudder/surging issues (with my truck)
2) Not quite as much power as the 3000 tune but much less smoke (smoke is fun now and then but 3000 tune smokes a fair amount off the line and under full throttle when rolling)
3) I did notice a slight decrease in fuel economy with the 3000 tune (may have been a little heavier on the throttle
The main reason I'm switching back to the BETA1 is the shudder that I experience between 80 and 100 km/h under light throttle.

The tunes you are loading are for the Timing/Fuel Setting. Nothing changes within the timing mode...if that is what you are trying to understand? Unless I read your statement wrong
