pyrometer issues

i just got my gauges in today

autometer phantom II series trans boost and pyro

now the pyrometer setup from this kit is strange

you drill and tap the manifold like always for npt fitting.

the probe slides through the npt fitting and is held in place by a set screw in the fitting

it looks like this setup will not seal and i dont want an exhaust leak from somthing that stupid

does that setup sound like it will work.

iv never seen it setup that way

ive put a pyro in a 12v and a 06 common rail and both of those used a probe with a flare nut style fitting that sealed when tightened

any thoughts

How loosely does it fit in the fitting? If it doesnt wobble around it should work fine. I dont think they would sell them if they leaked. But i never saw that style.

My Pyro is exactly as you describe with the set screw on the side. It doesn't leak. Don't ask my how it seals (I thought it would surely leak) but it does seal.

Install it and go on to more important worries.
