Pyro Gauge Question

Can you tap a whole in the manifold with it still in the engine? Would it harm the turbo from the particles drilled out the manifold? Thanks
Also, what is the best location for a boost and tranny temp gauge?

You can do it, but be careful. When you drill your hole, dip your drill bit in grease so that you fill the grooves. When you drill go slow and do not let the bit get hot. Clean the drill bit when it gets loaded with shavings. You should only have to clean and regrease the drill bit 3-4 times to drill the hole. Use the same trick to tap the hole and then a small magnet to fish out any shavings. A pocket pencil type works great.

I am not sure of the location on the earlier Manifolds.. But here is apicture of mine.. I pulled the Turbo down and taped over the top of it to keep any shavings from going into the turbo..

When I drilled this I tried all the grease stuff and I still had alot of shavings on the tape when I finished..I then put my finger up in there and cleand up additional shavings that stuck to the inside of the manifold with the grease..
I probably did the grease thing wrong or something...

I am personally glad I pulled the turbo after seeing all those shavings.
