everyone is making a bigger deal out of it then it is. all you are going to need to do is shim the carrier side to side. put the shims on exactly like they came off your old carrier. if the backlash is to tight shim the carrier away from the pinion. if its to loose shim it twards the pinion. you can use paint to check the gear lash. do a search on the internet im sure theres pics of what your looking for. then last make sure you put the caps on the same way they came off

If its still stock right now, the shims will be a single cast on each side that go between the bearing cup and the housing. If you have to shim them, you will have to put shims between the bearing itself and the carrier. Takes some time to do that. Add shims, sutff it in the housing, measure, pull it out, pull bearings, adjust shims and repeat. Takes a while but not that hard. Shim kit from Dodge was $23. Spare set of bearings that I machined the centers out about .010" was another $60 to slide on and off easy for measuring shims. Then you put the new ones on that arent machined out.

trachtech does not make a (detriotlocker) for a dana 80 with 3.55 gears the only one they make is for the 4.10 and lower carrier. they do make gear type limited slip for the 3.55 carrier but no locker.

What is the reason that you cannot run the 3.55 with a Detroit Locker? What are the gear ratios that are available to run the Detroit Locker?

If no locker is available for the 3.55 gears what is the strongest Limited Slip Diff you can run in a Dana 80?

How many splines do our (Mine 1999) Dana 80 axles have 35 or 37?
