Why would you want to? The wastegate relieves some exhaust backpressure and drops EGTs when it opens. Besides, if you bomb your engine enough, you will drive the stock turbo out of its efficiency map and can even overspeed the turbo if you don't have a wastegate.

Agreed. Don't need to remove it...just block it off so it does not function!
Unless it's in the way for some reason??

Well,
I am planning on upgrading to an edge comp soon, and a buddy of mine, who also has a cummins said I should do remove the wastegate and plug the hole. said it will allow me to boost more pressure.

Its just easier to unhook or block off the reference line to the actuator, like mine

The actuator will hold it closed fine, at least till 28lbs of boost I would imagine up untill 35lbs but thats really the max you want to be running anyways.

the piece that comes with the comp will allow you to push almost 40psi.

The HX35W-12 is far out of its efficiency map at 40 psig boost. All it's doing is producing hot, thin air when what you want is mass flow - dense air.

I am not going to do it yet. I had asked the forum because I consider this to be the best source of information on the cummins and i value yalls opinion.

As of now im not convinced that it will benefit?

It has been explained to me that the hypertech is not a "FUELING CHIP"
but rather an ecm flash. and that it also does not change boost, I never get above 20psi which i would image is stock? I was going to go to an edge comp, or drag comp. How much boost will these chips allow?

you need two things to get higher boost:
mechanical means of altering the wastegate, whether it's blocking the line or using the modified elbow that comes with new Edge EZ and Comp boxes
electronic means of fooling the ECM into NOT defueling to keep the boost under ~21psi. Whether it's a fueling box, replacement ECM or programmer it must either change the voltage from the MAP or change the software in the ECM.
either way, keep the stock HX35 around 35psi max for best power and EGT temp control

The comps will allow an infinite amount of boost.

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...rbomaster.html

That's true, but NOT a good thing to leave uncontrolled! EVERY turbo has a range of efficiency, and after a certain point you are making a lot more heat and LESS POWER.
