pulled 8,000 lb trailer this weekend

I just purchased a 30 foot travel trailer. It weighs almost 8,000 lbs empty. The cummins pulled her pretty good. With the power puck pluged in going up small inclines the egt temps pre turbo would get up to about 1,200 deg. Is their anything I can do to get them down a bit. On mostly flat road at 70mph it runs about 1,050 deg with about 14psi boost and 14psi fuel pressur. Any sugestions.

They are hot, but not to hot. Intake and exhaust would cool it down.

1200 isn't anything big. Like mentioned intake and exhaust would help. Also what was your boost on the inclines? Do you have a Boost elbow or J-hook installed on the turbo its self to help raise boost PSI?

I saw 100deg EGT reduction when towing with my 96' with a Scotty II installed. I did the 4" exhaust before gauges were installed. Can't vouch for exhaust egt reduction.

The Scotty II can get loud in the cab underload. The Tag seemed to tame the Scotty.

What tranny do you have?

If you have an auto you have an hy-9 turbo and it doesn't move much air. Especialy if you've added power.

When I only had an ez I would have a hard time pulling unless I could keep the rpms just right.

It has an auto transmision with about 5,000 miles on a rebuild (under warranty). No J hook installed either. I am gonna remove the muffler and resinator tonight.

I tow my trailer, (6x12 enclosed, weighs about 4k as it sits.) about 90% of the time. My average tank is about 15. I drive about 1/2 in town. Straight highway, cruise set at 70 I get 16.5 if it's pretty flat.
