problem when the truck is cold

When I first start the truck in the morning and go to put it in gear it stalls. If it does not stall it surges very hard and then its normal. I have only had this problem from the time I put the 200's in. Is there something wrong or is this just a fact of life with big injectors. Thanks

When i had my 01 i installed some bully dog stage 5 injectors, i dont recall what the HP rating was on them (i think 180hp), but i had the same issue you had. Start the truck up, give it a few seconds, drop it in either reverse or drive depending which way i am going, and it would either chug down and stall or it would sputter and and cough but stay running untill i would pop it into neutral. I didnt think much of it at the time, figured it was just what bigger injectors do. Well about a couple months later, my VP took a crap out on me and i had it replaced under warranty and after it was replaced, the truck never gave me any issues with stalling after i started it and put it in gear. I am guessing that the VP was weak at the time of installing the injectors and the bigger injectors amplifed the weakness of the VP. When the VP went i had a fass pump feeding it the whole time and always had good FP. Not saying this is your problems, but just tossing out ideas.

More than likely that is your issue if you have a weak VP already. Good luck and hope you get her straighten out.

well i have a DTT transmission and i only had the same problem after i put the tranny and injectors in the truck, i got the comp flashed with a extream cold weather idle and it was fixed. go to the dealer and tell them you want this code, you dont need the comp scanned so it shouldnt be more than 50 bucks. the code you are looking for it 18-014-01 mine is also a 2001. hope this helps
