problem with tranny/clutch

yesterday i put in an NV5600 out of a 2005 truck, but I cant figure out this problem.

When I put the truck in reverse now, even with the clutch jammed all the way to the floor the truck JUMPS into reverse and the truck will buck/jerk. when i put it in any forward gears it does not do this.

anyone have any idea...something tells me that it has something to do with the reverse synchros.

I don't have any suggestions TJ. I'm sorry to hear your having trouble with the new tranny though. That stinks.

Do you have the upgraded hydraulics? It seems if that was the problem it would show in all gears though. I don't know.

Does it grind when going into reverse? It does sound like a synchro.

its a not really a grind...just goes into reverse real hard and when it pops in the whole truck jerks and clunks.

Try pulling the slave cylinder out of the bellhousing & pump it in/out a few times....this will release air from the system. You may possibly need to upgrade the hydraulics. What clutch are you using?

it's not gonna be ur clutch or hydraulics if it's fine in the other gears. Sounds like a internal reverse problem.

noticed today it doesnt do it all the time, and may 1 out of 10 times it will grind going into reverse, so its not really a big deal and I can live with it I suppose.

As for my lack of 6th gear in the old tranny, you should have seen the brass come out of that fluid. It looked like I was panning for gold.

I wonder if there is a better sequence on putting it in "R"? May sound gay, but my little Honda HATES reverse unless I slap in in 1st before hand.

I've never driven a NV, mine is still a little jerky going into 1st and reverse so far....

Can you even get to the syncros from the topside (installed) even if you wanted to?

its a rear loading tranny, no top inspection plate, everything comes out the tail.

My whole shift tower comes off from inside the cab, right through a hole under the boot, I can see internals in there, probably couldn't service them though, huh?

Did you get to keep your old tranny? I had found one in a yard for $2500 when I had my problems, but they wanted an exchange. I said no thanks to that deal.

yes i have my old tranny its getting a rebuild then sitting in the garage as a spare or until i find some one who is in desperate need of one.

i just took the truck out to get lunch, shifted fine into reverse, no grinding, no popping. seems to me that its only happening when the tranny is dry (oil in bottom) and has been sitting. I only put 6 quarts in it when i installed it because thats all I had. Im gonna throw 2 more in it this week and see if that helps with the dry starts/shifting into reverse. It takes 5 quarts normally and I have FAST coolers so its a little low.

it seems to only have the problem when i first start it and try to back out of the driveway. Will report back after I find out more.
