pressure with new holley blue
back in nov. i bought a procomp black(seamed to be a good deal at the time, $60) and it blew the seal in the top of the pump fillin it full of fuel and shorting it out. i ran a stock pump for a couple of weeks with 14@ idle and 11@ WOT.
i bought a new holley blue tonight and it runs 12@ idle and 8.5@ wot...i think thats too low, i could streach the spring, like i did with the procomp, but that might of been why it blew the seal.
i would like to see a constant 14psi, should i put the stock pump back on with the blue?

is that with the 1/2 inch lines installed? Cause my campain pump with the vulcan relo kit I get 16 idle and 12 or 13 wot. Although I havent got my comp yet, but it shoudent change it the much. I was thinking of replacing the campain pump with a blue when it goes out.

I am also running 14psi at idle and 11 at wot with my relocated campaign pump. I may add a holley blue in the future, but for now I am O.K. with what I have.

dsl kicks gas
take the spring out of the pro comp black go down to the hard ware store and find a spring that is a little bit longer 1/4 to 3/8 and out that in. before my fass i did that and had 24 psi idl and 18 at wot worked good pump ran for a long time.

Pull the spring and plunger out and sand the plunger down with some emory paper and sand the port where the plunger resides down with some very fine sand paper. Then you can try and shim the spring with a couple of very small washers to bump the pressures up.

Those pressures are WAY better than where I'm at right now.... 13-14 psi idling, 10-9 psi Cruising, 5-4 psi WOT and thats with the Juice turned OFF.... Hence why I have a Auxilary Pump on the way!

ok on the way to work today i was runin 8 at crusin speed and i real easy on it, when i got to work i found a fuel filter on the shel and decited to change it....13psi at idle 11@wot, then i took the spring out and streached it a little and 15@ idle and 12-13@ WOT. not as good as pressure as with the procomp, but mabey it'll last a little longer, i put a spring that was biger in it and was seeing 25@idle and 18@ WOT.
yea i have the vulcan draw straw and 1/2 lines to the vp.

I don't think you will get solid 14 psi at both idle and at WOT no matter what you do. Unless you install pressure controller at the injection pump. With the viscosity of diesel fuel there will always be a pressure drop unless your fuel lines are like 0.75". But that is Ok, the IP will be happy as long as it gets >5 psi. If it gets 10 psi, you should be happy too I think.

is about 25-30 at idle and 17 wot too much for the vp? i would really rather not take the chance as i have read about somebody running 40 psi and killing the vp44 with too much pressure. i plan on using a regulator if needed but i would rather not waste the money or the effort if it is unneccesary? any ideas would be appreciated

I put a smaller spring inside the stock spring on my Holley Blue, and i cycled the pump then bumped the started and then squirmed in my seat as it ran a steady 46psi for thirty seconds till it finally shut off. I pulled that spring out, stretched the stock on a little and now run 16 @ idle, 13 @ wot with Jammer 5's and Hot Juice. I do have the vulcan relocation kit and just the Holley blue.

Well i dug through some of my dad's old boat racing parts (same place i got the holley blue) and found a diaphram type regulator. Put it on not i got 20 idle and around 15 wot. Im just gonna leave it alone for now.
