PowerTrax Lock-Rite info please!
Hi, I have been keeping my eye out for a Dana 70 Powr-Lok on ebay for a long time and there are never any on there, and if there are any, they are 35 spline, not 32. I dont feel like buying axles too, I found a Powertrax that just goes inside your existing open carrier for a good price, are these any good? I do tow a 25' goosneck every now and then, plus it would be easy to install. Thanks for any help
They have the lockrite and a less hardcore one for street use that I would prefer if they are any good.

It will probably be fine as long as you don't treat it like an extreme rock rig, or a top fuel dragster. You know, if you are trying to light the tires all the time and hard on the accelerator through corners, then it will probably grenade itself. But under normal conditions, even moderatley heavy towing, it should work just fine.

I've got a Lock rite in my D80. had it in there for over 6months now and I'm pleased. It's quirky as the lockers usually are, but once you learn how to drive it with the locker, it's all good.

I've had one in my 96 for quite awhile now. I would have removed it awhile ago but I'm not shelling out a ton of money to get a good limited slip unit and rebuild the whole rear.
I just don't like it, when I need it to spin both tires it won't, or it will for a second then I get a nice pop and one tire stops. Or when I make tight turns it wants to spin the inside tire only, kinda scarry when trying to turn onto a busy road in the rain, I have to let it idle out until I get the truck nearly straight then I can go.
The worst part is the banging when I go from a forward gear or park to reverse. It puts so much play in the rear.
That being said it was very cost effective and when I am out driving through sand it seems to work properly. If I had it to do again I would save a little longer and get a less aggressive LSD.

Get a Truetrac, or a full Detroit Locker...otherwise, your going to be ****** when the cross shaft shears when you put a decent shock load on it. I've seen it done twice on Bombed Diesels. Both Fords, but it happens to the best of us.
