Powering block heater from a deep cycle battery--crackpot notion?

Kinda makes me wonder about a car cover for the truck...all the way to the ground to keep the cold air out. Our 1100lb piece of cast iron should hold heat for a while...and the cover could also keep the junk off the windshield and shiny paint.

its do-able... but heres the problem. Those batteries you have are pretty small. Most likely 7-10 AH (ampere hours). Which means they have the equivelent of 1 amp draw for 7 hours, 7 amps for 1 hour, ar any variant in between.

I invested in an Espar. Just need to make sure the batteries are fully charged by either running the truck or a couple hours on the charger. I have that 2 mile to work problem...
