How does that work, and where do you get one?....homemade?
Is it just a longer collar that keeps the two shafts combined?....
I always thought the posi unit was in the diff.....confused

Positive engagement of the front axle, and enables 2wd low range.

it still is a collar just instead of air pushing them together (which mine was getting lazy at) its cable that pulls them together. so its instant.

Do you put the t-case in 4wd and then pull the cable? Can you shift on the fly?

Think of the Posi-lock as a set of manual locking hubs you activate from the inside. If the hubs are engaged in 2wd, you can let off the power and slide it into 4x4 because the front axles are spinning the ring and pinion (and driveshaft) the same speed as the rear. I wouldn't attempt to engage 4x4 at speed when the Posi-lock is disengaged--grinding noises may follow.

Just found this product in GENOS garage catalog. called BD 2-Low Kit looks like it allows you to disconnect the front hubs while in 4wheel drive. looks like it still uses the vacuum system BUT disables the vacuum to front hub and you will have 4wd low without the front diff in gaged. Ed $114.00
