Pop rivet in waste gate.
I seen a guy last weekend at the track in Edmonton who threw his waste gate out on his 01 2WD automatic and put in a pop rivet to keep his boost high. Should a guy do that? He was running 1/4mile in 15 seconds. I have the HO so it has a different turbo but it sounds good to me.

Instead of disabling the wastegate completely, I have always adjusted the rod to give me whatever maximum boost I want. On a 24 valve, the rod is threaded but staked in position, but you can drill out the staking, shorten the rod, and restake it.

Or you could install a boost elbow on your hose that goes from the wastegate to the turbo. It reduces the amount of pressure going to the wastegate to keep it closed longer so you have more boost to play with.
Or you could try a setup like mine with a couple turnbuckles and a tight spring that basically serves the same function as a manuel boost controller. If you want, check out the pics in my gallery and that will give you an idea of what I'm talking about...If you have any questions about it, just let me know!!!
