Question Poll for those of you with FP guages

Just want to see who has either a mechanical or a electric FP guage. And I also want to see if anyone ever had a leak in the cab.

It hasn't leaked since using permatex non-hardening sealer right after the first install.

I've run both, never had a leak with either. The mechanical gauge doesn't last long with a mechanical lift pump and live fuel.

Only had my gauge a week or so, but not too worried about a leak. Diesel stinks, I would detect it in the cab right away. I have a Drain C*ock type valve (thanks to Bill for identifing it) Unhooked from the hose it allows about an eyedroppers worth by every few seconds. Point being that a darn near CLOSED vavle in-line should be dampening or eliminate anything harmful comming from the LP or IP. The fact that Diesel is nasty, and could weaken the gauge itself?, that I don't know about. Time will tell. If mine fails, I close off my valve, $35.00 later, new gauge installed all is well again.

Good poll idea.

I worked on a truck where the electrical fuel pressure sender was leaking and diesel followed the wires into the cab.
Just because it's an electrical you aren't immune to diesel in the cab.

Wouldn't it be antifreeze in the cab anyway? I thought they still ran a liquid to the gauge, just "isolated" the fuel?

Many who use the isolator find that the diaphram ruptures before long and you either end up with a leak in the engine compartment, or fuel to the gauge anyway.
I have never used an isloator, just a length of stainless braided line straight from the fuel filter canister to my gauge on top of the dash.
Click on the links to "gauges" and "Fuel Pressure" in my sig for pics.

Mine had a small leak when I first installed it. Operator error. The dummy didn't tighten the hose tight enough.

Only leak was because Napa sold me a drain valve instead of a needle valve I found the leak as soon as I started the truck for the first time

As long as your fittings were tight, it wouldn't matter if they never even sold you a valve at all?

I have the drain type valve and I have reason to believe that it will work just as well as the needle.

?
