plate install help

Do I need a guide plate to install a torque plate on my bros. 98 12 valve??? Looks like we lost the gig somewhere. IS it OK to just place it in the same spot??

What I do is take a scratch awl or utility knife or what ever I can find and just scribe a mark into the pump in front of the plate.

Never had a template to use so I just did that, kinda makes it easier if you ask me, no more bolting and unbolting the template if you want to change plates or change positions then go back to stock

The jig is for precise placement. When your brother drives his truck for a week, maximum, he will want to slide the plate forward.

We all did!

What plate are you putting in your brothers truck? I can custom grind you a 100. And I also have a #10 laying around if you wanted to try that.... And what type of charging issues are you having on your truck?

it is either a 10 or 100, I think a 10.

My problem with my 99 is that I am not getting a signal from the pcm to the alt. Looking like I need a new PCM now. Spent all evening checking connections, plugs wires and batteries and am not getting a signal from the pcm to excite the field

no codes, just not getting any volts from the pcm to get the power flowing. I replaced the alterantor with a new one from Kragen, but it did not help. Maybe I should take that new one and have it checked first. Maybe I got a bad alt.

Thanks for the offer on the plate. i think he needs to run this one for a bit and see how it goes, he is kinda anti bomb and finally talked himself into this mod

98 QC 5 speed. He has his EGT gauge and plugged the waste gate but that is it. We put a 500HP west bend clutch in it last summer too.

It kinda kills him my 99 with a VA box will walk all over him till about 80 MPH where my 4:10 gears fall out

My truck is a 5 speed as well. Most auto's will out run a 5 speed from a dead stop. Especially a CTD 5 speed. He needs a 3k or 4k kit and your races would change quite a bit.... I should take your brother for a ride in my 94 and he will want to mod his truck a lot more.... I am doing a head gasket as we speak. Once I get it running we should hook up and run your brothers 98 against my 94 so he can get an idea of where his truck stands against another 12 valve 5 speed.

Well, the install went great. we had the bad bolt out in less than 5 minutes with a dremel on a flex shaft. Put in the new plate and took it for a ride HOLLY SH&*!!!!! This thing ROCKS!! Problem is that it is overpowering the clutch and EGT's are through the roof!!
We called Southbend Clutch and was told it needed to break in to the new power. He is now looking at a new 4" exhaust from Summit. We gotta get those temps down

BTW, I really like your wheels. Doy you think a 4" will be enough for that 100 plate
