a pillar pod with speaker question
I have the pod and guages, so last night I after painting the pod I slip it in there to see how it looks....and the speaker hole is 3 + inches up from the speaker? I thought the first guage would be right at the same place as the speaker? Am I suppose to remove the speaker and move it up to the pod? Becuase if thats the case, it doesn t look like the speaker screen is the same size? Do I have to trim out the pillar pod ?
I thought the pod just slipped over the existing a pillar and the speaker hole would sit right on top of the speaker, but that is not the case unless I cut atleast 3 inches off the apod and move it down, but then the top would not look correct.
Tips?

Re:a pillar pod with speaker question
You have to make the speaker hole larger to accomidate the speaker but be very careful as the speaker cover does not cover much and therefore forgives very few mistakes.
What I had my favorite shop do was cut the factory "A" pillar mldg into two large pieces (one top piece and one bottom piece). I then had them glue the pieces to the back of the new "A" pillar mldg (The top piece at the top and the bottom one at the bottom). This allowed me to utilize the factory clips and NOT use the screws so nothing is exposed. I also have the added benefit of just snapping it off when I want access like I would the factory "A" pillar moulding.
Hope this helps....

Re:a pillar pod with speaker question
I removed the original pod and mounted only the replacement pod. Would have had to butcher the original to make them fit together. My tweeter fit right in the hole, it's flush now instead of raised. I just used a couple screws to mount the pod. Painted the heads and looks fine.

Re:a pillar pod with speaker question
I dumped the factory A pillar and just put the 3 gauge pod back in. I had it velcroed up for over a year with no problems until this recent heat/humidity has made it slip down. I decided to put one screw in it and it's now in their solid.
